Why waxing?
Regular waxing appointments every 4/5 weeks achieve the best long-term results.Â
Each time you wax you cause a small amount of damage to the hair follicle, which alters the hair growth cycle, damaging and weakening the hair shaft, resulting in reduced hair growth, longer resting cycle and finer hair.
I’ve never been waxed before. What do I need to do before my appointment?
Allow a minimum of 3 weeks growth if you use home removal methods such as shaving, tweezing or hair removal creams.Â
Exfoliate a few days before your appointment. The buffing effect removes dead skin cells, exposing fresh, clean cells underneath this makes it easier for hair to lift away from the skin when wax is applied.Â
Wear loose fitting clothing as you’ll feel more comfortable afterwards.Â
If you wish take ibuprofen 30-60 minutes before your appointment as this can be helpful for pain relief and calm the skin down after the service.Â
Avoid caffeine and alcohol before your waxing appointments as the stimulants in the system can make the skin more sensitive.
How long does the hair need to be?
Stop shaving, tweezing or using hair removal creams three weeks prior to your waxing appointment. The hair should roughly be the size of a gain of rice.
Does it hurt?
Yes and no.Â
Your first wax will feel slightly uncomfortable as the hairs will be coarser especially if you have been shaving. The more return visits, the less hair to remove = more comfortable experience
I’m pregnant but would like an intimate wax?
Waxing during pregnancy is safe. You may feel slight discomfort as the skin is more sensitive, but rest assured you are in safe hands.Â
I allocate more time for pregnancy waxing to ensure your safety and comfort by adapting positions accordingly.
Can I still have a wax when I’m on my period?
Yes you can, as long as you wear a tampon and you’re clean and fresh. Toilet facilities within the salon have tampons and bio gradable wipes available. If you would like to re arrange your appointment, please give at least 24hrs notice.
How long will the waxed area be hair free?
You may notice a small amount of regrowth after a week or so. It can take up to 3/4 treatments for your hair to get on a growth cycle that gives the best results.
Is home care necessary?
Yes! To help maintain the results at home and to get the best out of your wax, home care is highly recommended.
